Our pottery is all hand crafted by Ithaca artisan Ann Harper (www.annharperpottery.com). Ann uses mostly Shino and Celadon glazes on her works of art. Shinos originated in Japan during the Momoyama period (1568-1600) and are characterized by a “carbon trap” that happens in the firing process. Celadons originated in ancient China and Korea and are even more transparent so you’ll see the clay’s natural beauty peering through the glaze.
